Money is Not Evil

Timothy 6:10 “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil”

This famous passage, taken from the New Testament is one of the most misunderstood quotes of all time. It causes many people to remain stuck in poverty and subconsciously sabotages the success of entrepreneurs and business people all over the world.

Money itself is not evil; it is the love of money which can turn into greed and avarice towards money that is the evil part.

Business exists for 2 core reasons: To provide a service or solution to cater to your customers needs and wants. But let’s not forget… Business is also a vehicle for you to make money, which you can then help yourself and others have a wonderful life.

As an entrepreneur money is simply a tool of leverage that will amplify your existing personality traits and intentions.

Allow me to explain – A “good” business person with more money has the power to do more good, whilst an “evil” business person with more money has the power to do more evil. Money itself has no agenda or emotion. Money is neither good, nor bad.

The misconception that money leads to evil causes many people to choose poverty. They believe that by staying poor they will remain a good person, rather than obtain wealth and become a bad person. This choice is often made in the subconscious mind which has been conditioned by society’s negative connotations towards money.

It’s important for you to acknowledge that you can be a good person and have money. Being poor will not serve you and will not serve others.

So doesn’t it make more sense as a business person, to use business as a vehicle to make more money, so that you can then use it for more good? Sounds simple, but why do we feel guilty when we start to make lots of money and why do we sabotage our own success?

Here are 4 great tips to help you smash this deeply seated belief.

Tip #1. Conduct this thought experiment – Imagine all the good that you could do with $10 million. How many starving mouths could you feed? How many people could be immunised from life threatening diseases? Once you focus on all the good that money can do, you will no longer feel guilty when receiving money.

Tip #2. Become aware of the “tall poppy syndrome” and disconnect from this type of thinking. This is where wealthy people are vilified by others, simply because they have lots of money. Many wealthy people are philanthropists and privately contribute millions of dollars to worthy causes.

Tip #3. Cheer on “team rich” When wealthy people are being harassed by society or the media, observe your own responses and make the conscious choice to support the wealthy. If you find yourself resenting wealthy people, you will sabotage yourself from becoming wealthy as you can not become what you resent.

Tip #4. Surround yourself with like minded positive people, who are willing to support you on your journey. Being an entrepreneur can be lonely and can make you feel isolated, that’s why its so important to have the support of other like minded entrepreneurs.

A Confused Mind…

Here’s a really powerful and abrupt business tip:

A Confused Mind Always Says NO!

If your marketing is confusing to your clients, it’s likely they will say NO to doing business with you.

Billions of dollars are flushed down the toilet every year from DOWNRIGHT BAD and CONFUSING marketing.

Does your marketing:

  • Confuse them with mixed messages?
  • Overwhelm people with way too much information?
  • Give them too many options to choose from?
  • Use industry jargon which makes no sense to your reader?

Become crystal clear with the message in your marketing and always make sure the reader can understand it.

Make it drop dead easy for them to take action on your product or service.

Don’t be afraid if your marketing message polarizes the reader. You don’t want to be all things to all people.

Those who want to do business with you WILL jump on board, and all the rest will go away.

ATTRACT your ideal client and REPEL the time wasters.

Don’t sit on the fence and confuse people. You’re wasting their time and your money.

Unlock That Caged Lion Inside…

I woke up this morning with an overwhelming feeling I had to write this. I don’t know why this happens, I just know I need to write.

This one sung to me and I hope it sings to you.

I’ll start by quoting one of my favourite actors and someone I admired greatly.

Morgan Freeman.
“Insanity is coasting through life in a miserable existence when you have a caged lion locked inside and the key to release it.”

Do you have a caged Lion locked up inside you? just waiting to leap out and change your life forever.

Over the years I have witnessed this many times, it can be extremely frustrating when you know what you want to do, you can see what you need to do and you can see the life you deserve.

Well don’t wait for someone else to give you the key to success, it is inside you right now.

It’s never too late.

Take a moment today and ask yourself, do I really want to carry on as I am or do I want to take control and have the life I deserve.

If the answer is NO! then you owe it to yourself to do something right now.

You maybe feeling down because Cashflow is scarce, your business maybe stuck in a rut and you can’t see the forest for the trees.

I don’t care what it is, just do something to get yourself out of the situation you’re in. Call someone, read a book on personal improvement, do a coarse or a seminar, get a Mentor.

Do something right now, take action towards having a better life.

Over the years I have proven hundreds of times with myself and my clients, that if you Take A Positive Action, A Positive Result Will Come Back To You.

So, imagine that you have the key to unlock the Lion inside you, grab that key and take action to having an amazing and fulfilled life.

I wish you all the success in the world and if I can help please let me.

Business Warrior Mindset

Today I wanted to get straight back on the bike; you see I’ve been speaking to many business owners in my travels and here at home.

One thing they’re all saying is how amazing the start to this year has been. not in a long time has business been so great, I hope this is the case for you.

Great confidence is all around us and I would like to think that this will continue for many years to come, maybe even another 15 year boom time. (always the optimist)

So here we go – Five great tips that can help you throughout the year.

1, The Business Warrior Mindset.
One day your mind feels ready to tackle the world; the next day you are second – guessing all of your decisions. If you are not careful, you can talk your own self into failure.

Once you realize how powerful your mind is, it becomes your strongest weapon in business. Mastering the warrior mindset is an intentional action. Learning how to do so is an everyday challenge.

People who are successful in business or anything in life make success look easy. They too, have had to work on their mind every single day of their lives. So what do they do differently?

2, Living in past failures.
You won’t find successful people looking backwards; if they are, they are studying the mistakes and lessons.

One of the best mantras ever is “don’t belong to the past, you don’t live there anymore.”  Anyone who gives you small business advice will tell you to keep your momentum in the present with a plan for the future.

3, Talking the talk without shoes for the walk.
People who are successful carry a large dream that once began in a thought bubble and grew from their own passion and determination.

There is a huge difference between saying what you would “like to do” as opposed to  what you “will do.”

“The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.”—Walt Disney

4, The “I made it” complacency trick
Many who reach a milestone, a victory, or an ultimate goal get to experience the complacency trickster.  The ego has been fed, so now the mindset operates on cruise control.

Set a new point for your success, keep charged and open to consistent improvement.

If this is you now, this is the time we should reach  push  through the plateau.

Complacency in any area of your life does not feel good, ever.

5, Humble pie (without a scoop of ego)
A true business warrior mindset emits a certain charge that pulls in all good things in it’s right time.

In other words, if you are blocked with envy, ego, or lack humility, success will only be a surface suit worn falsely.

Gratitude is a business virtue as well. As you are recognized, pass on recognition to others. Your self-worth is not in the money, it is in the diligence and hard work you did to get it. That is pride.

You can have a warrior mindset. You can achieve anything.

As always, I wish you all the success in the world.

All the best

Five Tidbits for you…

Passion is something that motivates people to start a business. If you have a passion, but are struggling to turn that interest into a profitable business, Here are five tidbits of wisdom taken from hundreds of successful entrepreneurs from all over the globe.

  1. Believe

Instead of making excuses as to why you can’t or won’t take the risk, believe you can do it and turn your passion or hobby into a successful business.

Define success – It’s essential that you make the rules when it comes to defining what success means to you.
Your view is the most important definition of success that will guide you.

Your success doesn’t rely upon your personal worth – No matter what your education or skill level, you are able to do anything in life that you want to do. You are a beautiful, shining star, and that fact won’t change.

Build relationships with inspiring and supportive people – The people you surround yourself with can either lift you up or drag you down. Fill your life with people who support you and inspire you every day.

2. Know

Whether you are thinking of becoming an entrepreneur or you are already a successful business person, you should take the time to do these exercises.

  • List your strengths – Make a list of your strengths. Don’t just include the ones you see and know, but add those strengths others see in you.
  • List your values – What are your personal values? Knowing and living your own values helps you develop into a happy, fulfilled person.
  • List your interests – Making a list of what interests you and what you feel passionate about. Seeing it on paper helps keep you focused.

These elements will help you discover what you should pursue.

  1. Build

Building the life you want starts with a solid framework. Here are some small business advice  tips to help you build a solid framework.

  • Write a personal mission statement
  • Write a personal vision statement
  • Routinely review your actions and attitude to ensure you are aligned with your mission and vision
  • Become a habitual planner and write everything on your calendar in order to make the most of your time
  1. DoBe a doer. Enjoy your journey instead of focusing on the destination. Have the attitude that even if money wasn’t important, you would still be doing exactly what you’re doing because you truly love doing it.

Successful business owners love going to work every day because they never know what interesting challenges they will face and how many interesting people they will meet.

  1. Share

You must share the ideas and things you love. This concept is seen every day on social networks when people share pictures of their kids, a vacation, and the like.

In this case, you will share with other like-minded entrepreneurs in your community. You will be around people, just like you who love what they do.

You never know when you will get to work with someone who helps boost your efforts while you help them boost theirs.

Small Business Marketing Strategies You Should Not Forget!

Small Business Marketing Strategies You Should Not Forget!

Ever since the Internet has expanded the world of marketing, some traditional marketing methods have been left behind. Has this happened because traditional marketing strategies are no longer effective? Like most successful entrepreneurs and professionals I would say “No.” Digital marketing may seem fast, easy and sophisticated, but you should never underestimate or overlook the following traditional forms of business marketing.

Six proven, but not-to-be-forgotten traditional marketing tactics:

  • Conventional business cards – Business cards might seem low on your list of marketing tactics, but they should be at the top of your list. Most of today’s successful business people started out will business cards and built their marketing strategies from there. Having cards made to promote your business should be the first thing you do. Always carry some with you everywhere you go.
  • Newspaper advertising – Another promotional avenue that has been almost completely forgotten is placing newspaper ads. The newspaper business is still alive and well even in today’s digital world. You can use ads with discounts or coupons for a limited time to attract business using local newspapers. Nowadays when you place an ad, it often is included in the digital edition of the newspaper as well.
  • Specialty advertising – If you talk to a qualified business mentor Sydney service provider, they will tell you how important it is to use specialty advertising methods. This encompasses advertising forms like refrigerator magnets, t-shirts, pens, mugs, and calendars. Most entrepreneurs today fail to realize the value in having their brand on a magnet, a mug, a pen, a calendar, or a t-shirt. These are like gifts to clients and potential clients as well as reminders that you are there.
  • Printed Brochures – You might be thinking brochures are old-fashioned and passé, but they are simply a forgotten, yet effective way to provide your audience with an overview of your products and services. This marketing method is not expensive, but can be quite effective.
  • Signs – People still read signs, especially when they are visually appealing. Your business needs a sign over the door, on your business vehicle, on local billboards, and anywhere signs are found. Signs can also promote specific products, services, or prices. Signs are bought once and will last for many years, making this form of advertising a good investment.
  • Printed Sales Materials – Catalogs, product specification sheets, price lists, and sales sheets are all examples of printed sales materials. They provide your customers with details and information needed to make informed decisions about making a purchase. You might be surprised at how effective this is at helping someone choose you over your competitors.

All these simple forms of advertising may seem antiquated to you, but there is nothing antiquated about how well they help grow your business. Online marketing, websites, and social media marketing are fun and exciting, but they work better when you incorporate these tried-and-true methods with your current digital marketing strategies.

Pinpoint The Why

Here’s something that changed the way I think forever! You see, for many years I was driven to make more money. Don’t get me wrong, I still love making money. However, I learned something along the way that change me in a very profound way.

I realised that the money (Profits) came to me much easier, if I loved and believed in why I was doing what I was doing.

Pinpoint the “Why” of Your Business – Vision & Purpose

Many people would say the primary objective of any business is to earn a profit; that without profit, nothing else is possible for a business.

However, more and more this view is outdated as the entrepreneurial spirit – the urge to combine what we love to do with earning a living – overtakes the simple profit-driven business model.

Small business owners not only desire to earn a living, they have a vision of a problem they can solve in a unique way that truly serves their fellow man. This drive to help, to make an impact on the world, transforms a business into a mission-oriented organization.

A mission-oriented business has a purpose that gives meaning to even the most mundane tasks.

Keeping this mission part of day-to-day activities increases the success factor for businesses – the mission drives all facets of operations, from product creation to employee morale and consumer relations.

Here are 3 businesses that grew out of their missions:

All three of these companies are stellar examples of this mission-oriented business model.

TOMS – Founded in 2006 by Blake Mycoskie when he realised that so many children did not have proper  shoes to protect their feet, TOMS sends one pair of shoes to a person in need for every pair purchased by a consumer. This is consistent with their “One For One” vision.

Patagonia – This company has been around since 1985 and has donated 1% of their total sales or 10% of their profit, whichever is the largest, to grassroots environmental groups every year since it was founded.

Whole Foods – A chain of natural foods supermarkets that sells products such as poultry and meat that are free of antibiotics and growth hormones, unprocessed grains and cereals, and other organic, natural foods.

These companies all have used their beliefs to create meaning and purpose. Not only does this help keep employees motivated, purpose inspires customers to purchase their products even if there are less expensive options.

For example, many customers happily purchase one or more pairs of TOMS shoes a year because they know that for every pair they buy a pair is being donated to a child in need. A purpose-driven business creates a better world.

To keep your business’s purpose honed and clear at all times, owners and executives should regularly ask themselves the following questions:

Ask These Questions

  1. What is our noblest purpose and are we achieving it?
  2. How can we give employees a greater sense of meaning in their work, so that they are more enthusiastic about coming into work every day?
  3. How can we participate in improving our world and ensure that we do less harm?

These 3 questions get to the heart of the “why” that drives all business decisions. Answering them is a great exercise to do when you need some inspiration and motivation as a business owner!

Have fun and as always, I wish you all the success in the world.

When I Was Young…

When I was young I like many dreamed of being a professional athlete;
I did achieve modest success gaining my black belt in full contact martial arts and being a state champion goal keeper in Soccer.
However I never really made it to the money making heights that I would have liked.

I realised I needed a plan B.
After studying hard and surrounding myself with great Mentors and Coaches I went on to achieve huge success in Business and that’s where the money was…

Many people choose small business and the entrepreneurial life believing it will give them a wonderful life, yet they never receive the help they deserve to gain great success.
Having lived and breathed an athlete’s mindset, I know what it takes to be successful and I now share a lot of that wisdom through my Coaching programs.
Here are the top 3 things that athletes know before they even step foot into the business world.

1. Sticking to that vision!
Athletes are taught from the beginning to envision what they want.
They want to win of course; they want to be the best of course.
Past this vision is actually seeing themselves there.
There is no plan B taught in sports when you have a vision.
There is only success. An athlete will do whatever it takes in order to achieve that vision or success in the long run.

Q. Are you doing whatever it takes to win?

2. Focusing on the end result!
Individual’s business get side tracked easily: when a phone rings, an email dings, or there is a knock at the office door.
With an athlete, it is different. An athlete is taught from early on to block out distractions and focus on the big finale at the end of the game.
That does not include stopping and starting on projects it means keeping at it until it is completed.

Q. What is your end game?

3. Being passionate will always go farther!
People are right when they say there is nothing better than being at the top, of course.
However those that have been knocked down a thousand times and still got back up will remain at the top much longer than those that have not had these kinds of experiences.
That is what passion is all about. Being able to believe in yourself and love what you do so much that you can pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and continue on your path to success.

Q.When you get knocked down will you get up?

As a small business owner, you can always look at it this way: while you are working late hours to learn your craft, nine chances out of ten your competition thinks they already know it all and are fast asleep.
Take this time to learn more, so that you can become more!
